DSM RECOMMENDATIONS:
Any 101st Colonial Marine may recommend the award of the DSM to a Marine other than themselves.
For a recommendation to be successful it must be:
A. Made in writing in the form of a text file (txt) and sent via ICQ thru the immediate chain of command of the person being recommended. The recommendation must be approved at each level unless this is not possible due to long absence (48 hrs or more). The ONLY level of the chain of command that may be by-passed as a matter of routine is the level of the person being recommended.
B. The recommendation must clearly state exactly what the Marine has done (Including approximate dates if possible and applicable) that is considered to be beyond the call of duty and/or what they have done that has benefited a Platoon/Section or the whole clan.
C. The file must include the name of the Marine being recommended and the name of the Marine making the initial recommendation.
D. Agree or Disagree, each level in the chain of Command must add their name and own comments to the text file. The file must then be sent on to the next rank within their chain of command (Remember the 48 hr rule).
The final decision to award the DSM is subject to the approval of the awarding authorities.
NOTE - Award to VETS may be recommended in the same way however VETS do not have a chain of command and therefore these recommendations should be passed directly to Command.
